No more having to remember where you stashed your Frequent Buyer Card or trying to dig it out of your wallet--our perks program for loyal customers is going paperless!
Beginning April 1st, 2010 we will start our to a new computer-based Rewards system.
With Rewards, every time you make a purchase of qualifying merchandise, the computer will track it for you. For your convenience, the receipt for your purchase will show your progress towards future discounts--but you don't need to present receipts or anything else to use the discounts you've earned.
As soon as your purchases add up to a Reward, the computer will notify the cashier and you'll be able to use the Reward at that time. You may sign up for Rewards beginning April 1st.
As of April 1st, 2010 we will not issue any new Frequent Buyer Cards. Existing cards will be honored through the end of April. You may continue to receive punches and redeem your fully-punched card according to the existing conditions of the FBC program through April 30th. When you redeem a Frequent Buyer Card during April, we'll register you in the new Rewards program OR - beat the rush, Come in anytime and give us your information (Name, phone, e-mail or address and zip code. we are actually collecting names already and placing them in the program for the future. PLEASE NOTE: You may receive punches only on actual FBCs at the time of purchase--we will no longer punch or notate receipts. Either Rewards OR FBC may be used on purchases during April--but not both on the same purchase.
As of May 1st, 2010 only the new Rewards system will apply, and we will no longer punch or redeem FBC cards. See the information on the back of your Frequent Buyer Card.
Under the new program, the more yarn you purchase, the faster your Rewards will add up, PLUS you'll gain chances to earn extra discounts and special premiums.
Stay tuned for more information as April approaches.

Remember to stop by this weekend for some cheery sock knitting on Sunday from 1 to 3 and do check out the newcomers in the bassinet; it is full! We have some wonderful glitzy yarns, touched with gold, that are begging to be made into a holiday something for sure. Also two wonderful new sock yarns that rival Koigu, for sure - one from Aslantrends and the other from Prism. Also our quick gifts are still on display through the weekend.

Christi was musing the other day that we were all about to close the only decade of our lives that were aught-something or anything. Of course that could be said of many decades, but it was an interesting thought. Maybe some of our kids will see another aught-something, and don't you wonder what they well see? I bet there will still be knitters. Take Wikipedia for what it's worth, but it does have a very credible history of knitting. So, when you take up the needle and yarn, remember you are joining the ranks of the ages
So enjoy the few remaining days before the holidays and be thankful that last gift you are working on isn't a pair of Long Johns (I hope!) !

Time does fly, doesn't it? I think that phrase is the most common one used in this column....
As you can see, our December schedule is a little empty. This is because it seems to us that most people are consumed with holiday plans and shopping. We have, however, added a new Mittens on DPN's which will be taught by Christi. These will be done with bulky yarn so you will be able to finish both mittens in short order. As noted, this will give you all the techniques needed for gloves, and a leg up if you are interested in Latvian Mittens. We have a new offering in January for a 2 day workshop done by the "Queen of Latvian Mittens" (that is our designation for her), Mary Germaine. Look for more details to come!

Isn't it grand! The new web site, I mean! From what we have heard our customers do like the looks of it. Yahoo! Currently we are just at the point where we are able to motor around the insides or the behind the scenes of the perky pages, so we will be making changes and updating things as we gain the knowledge. Rather like learning to knit or crochet, I guess. It will come
Oh, a grand thing happened today.....7 women from Racine came to the store with 53 knitted bears to be sent to Minneapolis where the headquarters of the Mother Bear Project is. There, the bears are checked and given a heart before they are sent to Africa and given to children who have been touched by the AIDS/HIV virus. Keep checking in to see pictures!
